Invention of Scripts and
their Beginnings

INSCRIBE was a 5-year project funded by the European Commission under the ERC Consolidator grant program (2018-2023) composed by a strongly interdisciplinary team of researchers. INSCRIBE examined the primary inventions of writing in Western Asia, Egypt, China and Mesoamerica, and focused also on the Cretan and Cypriot scripts from the second millennium BC.
